JYOTHIKSHETRAM

Jyothikshetram Overview

The Jyothikshetram, also known as the "Temple of Luminance," is a sacred shrine situated within the Sree Rama Dasa Ashram, Chenkottukonam. It stands as a symbol of the spiritual journey through the seven realms, as envisioned by Jagadguru Swami Satyananda Saraswathi Thiruvadikal during his divine Aaradhana. This shrine was established to commemorate the birth centenary of Brahmasree Neelakanta Gurupadar and reflects the ashram's commitment to preserving ancient Indian traditions and spirituality.

Every morning I contemplate while standing after bath. A circular light forms through the horizon. It lights up keeping the sky as the background at the place where the sky joins the sea. Like keeping a lot of lighted lamps, lamps that lightup without flickering. To this side of the “horizon lights” there are more lights, like the lights of a chuttambalam, that reaches upto the horizon. I remain at the center and envision the lights around me.Then the lights will reach unto the horizon. The smallest one in that is the light in the center. The sanctum sanctorum at the center is Myself. This is the Jyothikshetram.

Swamiji’s Divine Vision

Jyothikshetram is the manifestation of the divine vision experienced by Jagadguru Swami Satyananda Saraswathi Thiruvadikal during his sacred Aaradhana at Sree Rama Dasa Ashram. In this profound spiritual moment, Swamiji perceived the seven worlds (Saptha Lokas) within His Divinity, and Jyothikshetram emerged as a symbol of this celestial harmony. This sacred space stands as a beacon of divine grace and embodies the timeless wisdom and spiritual heritage of Brahmasree Neelakanta Gurupadar. Designed as a spiritual haven, Jyothikshetram reflects the soul's journey through the seven realms, capturing the transcendental vision revealed to Swamiji.

The sanctity of Jyothikshetram was further elevated by the sacred procession of lamps from 501 holy shrines across India. Each lamp symbolizes spiritual enlightenment, and their union at Jyothikshetram created a divine spectacle. Witnesses of this event beheld a miraculous vision—a luminous orb descending from the heavens and merging with the shrine's crown, enveloping it in a celestial glow.
